Oldschool Blocks is a game for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch that is reminiscent of arcade games of decades past.
Much like other arcade games for the iPhone, Oldschool Blocks is built on an interface of bright colors and fun action sounds. The object of the game is to bounce a ball off the paddle you control at the bottom of the screen and hit colored blocks in the air above you. If you're unable to catch the ball on its downward bounce, it will fall into the abyss below and you'll lose a life.
Oldschool Blocks also have a few other key objects that fall from the sky once you hit blocks. These include clocks, stars and large green balls that split into additional playing pieces to name a few. Oldschool Blocks employs a touch screen maneuvering system that's a little hard to deal with at first. Once you get the hang of it, though, the fun will really start to begin! Plus, if you end up losing all your lives, Oldschool Blocks keeps track of the level you were last at so you can start from there again, although it doesn't actually keep a record of your previous scores.
The only gripe we had with Oldschool Blocks is that you can't turn the screen horizontally. Some users might find holding their mobile device vertically while playing a little hard to get used to.
Oldschool Blocks really does bring back the spirit of arcade games from yesteryear, which will be a delight for both adults and younger players alike.
